This former coal town, resting on the Boulder-Weld county line about 12 miles south of Longmont, was first settled by a Methodist minister from Erie, Pennsylvania. In the last ten years, Erie has seen a surge in new families, homes, and businesses. With its proximity to both Denver and Boulder, the town provides an affordable option for people working in either city. Erie has repeatedly been named one of the best places to live and raise a family with a town motto of “Your Future Is Here”.

Notable points about Erie: 

  • Explore 1300 total acres of parks and open space, including 13 neighborhood parks, a community park and sports complex, two reservoirs, two singletrack bike trails, a golf course, and 58 miles of trails. 
  • The historic downtown in Erie is known as the Entertainment District. A unique feature of this area is the ability to purchase an alcoholic beverage from one of the participating establishments and enjoy it while at a downtown event.
  • The town hosts numerous special events annually like Breakfast with Santa, Boo! On Briggs Street, Movies in the Park, Hot Air Balloon Festival, Brewfest, Concerts in the Park, Town Fair, and the Wine Festival.
  • The Art Center of Erie hosts a visual and performing arts program operated by the Arts Coalition of Erie
